A few nights ago, I lit a lantern and watched it float into the sky.
It was midnight. We were standing in the street outside. Just me and my closest friends trying something new. We ruined two lanterns before we figured it out. We laughed. We tried again. And eventually, they rose. One after the other.
For a few splendid minutes, we had our Rapunzel moment. No magic required.
And it made me think...
We wait so much.
We save the beautiful plates and China for guests who never come.
We postpone the dream trip for a “next year” that never arrives.
We delay the sweet moments we crave for a relationship that does not yet exist.
Let’s pause here.
Patience is a virtue. But constantly postponing small joys is a quiet cruelty toward our own hearts.
It's how we forget to actually live and do life on autopilot.
How we stop noticing the colors around us.
How we convince ourselves that happiness must be earned, scheduled, or approved.
But love does not only live in grand milestones.
Love lives in small moments you choose to create.
A lantern.
A late night.
A silly idea that turns into a memory.
Have you ever wished for something simple and still never allowed yourself to do it?
Maybe it is time.
Do it.
Not when everything is perfect.
Not when someone joins you.
Not when life finally settles.
Do it as an act of love.
